FAQ

This page collects frequently asked questions, common troubleshooting steps, and practical configuration examples for the Dreame Vacuum Card. It provides solutions for widespread issues alongside advanced layout and styling techniques that combine various configuration options.

Why does the "Failed to load card" error appear?

Show Answer

This error typically indicates a caching issue or an incomplete installation. Refreshing the browser page while clearing the cache resolves the problem in most cases. If the issue persists, reinstalling the current version of the integration is recommended. The Manual Installation guide provides detailed instructions for this process. If the card still fails to load after these steps, opening a bug report is necessary. The Issue Reporting page explains how to gather the required logs.

How can incorrect or missing translations be fixed?

Show Answer

The card dynamically uses the language files provided by the backend integration. Incorrect terminology or missing translations require updates in the main integration repository. The Fix or Improve Translations section on the Localization page details the exact steps to submit translation corrections.

How can the card be displayed in full screen?

Show Answer

For the best user experience on tablets and desktop monitors, the card supports Home Assistant's native panel view. The Using Panel Mode section in the Installation and Usage guide details the steps to set up a dashboard view where a single card occupies the entire screen.

How can the map room colors be customized?

Show Answer

The card allows extensive customization of the map's visual appearance. The Overriding Colors section in the Advanced Configuration guide explains how to define custom colors for individual rooms, backgrounds, and other map elements.

Why doesn't the card scale larger than the screen?

Show Answer

By design, the card restricts its maximum height to ensure it fits entirely within the viewable screen area without requiring vertical scrolling. Setting the Full Height option to false in the Advanced Configuration overrides this behavior, allowing the card to scale to the maximum available width even if it exceeds the screen boundaries.

How can the map be permanently locked for wall-mounted tablet dashboards?

Show Answer

When the dashboard is displayed on a touch-sensitive wall panel, accidental map panning can be prevented by setting the Card Lock Mode in the Basic Configuration to Always. This setting forces the map to remain completely static, ignoring accidental swipes or scrolls while keeping the action buttons fully accessible.

How can the card background be made completely transparent?

Show Answer

The card inherently follows the Home Assistant theme, but its background can be made entirely transparent to blend perfectly into custom dashboard backgrounds. The Overriding Colors section in the Advanced Configuration guide explains how to explicitly set the map_background and card_background properties to transparent.

How can the card be integrated into an existing floor plan?

Show Answer

The card automatically detects when it is placed inside a Picture Glance card and adapts its layout. Setting the Hidden Card Objects option to All removes all user interface elements, leaving only the map visible. Furthermore, specific map elements can be hidden using the Hidden Map Objects option, allowing the map to blend seamlessly into a custom floor plan image. The Custom Map Configuration provides additional options to fine-tune the zoom level and map position to perfectly align with the background.

How can a custom floor plan image be displayed instead of the scanned map?

Show Answer

For unsupported devices or customized dashboards, a static image can be overlaid on the card. The Custom Map Configuration provides background_image and overlay_image options that can be aligned using exact coordinates. The original scanned map can then be entirely hidden by setting the Map Display property to Floor Plan Only, leaving only the custom image and the live robot position visible on the card.

How can custom Home Assistant scripts be triggered directly from the card?

Show Answer

The card natively integrates with custom scripts. By defining them in the Scripts section of the Advanced Configuration, the card automatically populates the Shortcuts action button with those custom Home Assistant scripts, completely replacing the device's native shortcuts on the home screen.

Why does the card function only as a limited preview?

Show Answer

The interface functions solely as a limited preview until a license key is securely validated. Activating the card unlocks all interactive map features, device settings control, and customized cleaning sequences.

Where can the purchased license key be found?

Show Answer

A successful transaction displays the unique license key directly on the confirmation screen for immediate copying. Every purchased license key remains accessible at any time from the payment provider's secure customer portal. An email address used for an earlier purchase leads to a verification step during checkout. A single-use code is sent to that address, and submitting the code opens the same customer portal listing every license key on the account.

How is the purchased license key activated?

Show Answer

After obtaining a license key, the card must be configured to use it. The In-Card Activation section provides step-by-step instructions on how to add the card to the dashboard, access the device configuration menu, and securely enter the license key to unlock all features.

Can a single license key be used for multiple vacuum devices?

Show Answer

No. The device-specific license model requires individual license keys for multiple vacuums. Each license key permanently activates the card for a single vacuum device. Acquiring a license for an additional device directly funds the continuous development effort required to integrate and support new hardware models.
